Creating and Sharing Patent Dashlets

A Patent Dashlet is a summary of key data points that you can select to include in the view. This may include a combination of the standard patent bibliographic fields and custom fields. 

A Dashlet can be thought of as a Custom View for a particular user and a Dashlet gives you additional functionality such has being able to restrict the view to only a selected Group of records (as opposed to all the records in the project) and to specify which columns to mark as Visible or Ready Only. (Using Project Settings > Project Specific Rights Tab)

There are many Dashlet specific Permission Groups already present in the Default Permission Groups list that allow you to decide what capabilities you want the user to have along with the particular Dashlet.

To add a new Dashlet to a project

1. On the Project screen, click Project Settings link.
2. The Project Settings dialog box will be displayed.
3. Click Add Patent Dashlet tab.
4. Select Add New from the View Patent Dashlet drop-down list.
5. In the text box, type the dashlet name.
6. Select Custom view type as Column or List. Column type of custom view appears like a table and List type custom view appears like a Standard View wherein the data elements that you want to see are arranged in a row of cards type of format.
7. Select fields from the Select Columns for the View and click > icon.
8. The option is added to Columns selected for the View.
9. If you want to restrict the Dashlet to only a subset of a records then you can select the Group. (The Group must be created and present from before)
10. Click Save.

The Dashlet is created and will be displayed as new tab on the right hand side of Quick Stats.

To update a Dashlet

1. On the Project screen, click Project Settings link.
2. The Project Settings dialog box will be displayed.
3. Click Add Patent Dashlet tab.
4. Select the dashlet from the View Dashlet drop-down list.
5. Select Custom view type as Column or List. Column type of custom view appears like a table and List type custom view appears like a Standard View wherein the data elements that you want to see are arranged in a row of cards type of format.
6. Edit the required fields.
7. Click Update.

The Dashlet is updated.

To delete a Dashlet

1. On the Project screen, click Project Settings link.
2. The Project Settings dialog box will be displayed.
3. Click Add patent Dashlet tab.
4. Select the dashlet from the View Patent Dashlet drop-down list.
5. Click Delete.

The Dashlet is deleted.
