How do I search patents that are similar to the patent number(s) present with me?

Searching for Similar Patents using number search form, AI search form or detailed view
 

A. Number search Form 

  1. Select number search form from search dropdown
  2. Paste the number in the search box.
  3. From ‘search for’ dropdown select Similar Patents to Matched Records.
  4. Here, the numbers can also be uploaded using the upload file option. 
  5. Click on the Lookup to search for Similar patents.

B. AI Search Form 
 

  • In the AI search form under the Patent Tab you can search for Similar Patents 
  • When searching by patent, you can now refine your AI search to specifically focus on claims related to the given number when generating similarity

To create Search follow the steps below:
 

  • Paste a Number in the box and click on Look Up
  • Then you can use the context aware option to get the most relevant results to the type of search you are doing, be it the Similarity search, Infringement search or Invalidity Search
  • While doing a similarity search you can paste upto 5 numbers at once separated by a comma. 
  • Here, you can also restrict your query to Corporate Owner (This will be helpful if you want to concentrate on any particular Assignee), Legally Alive Families or Priority country.

C. Detailed View 
 

  Steps for searching Similar records using Detailed view 
 

  1. Create your search and click on the search option to view the results. 
  2. On the result page click on a particular record to   open its detailed view. 

Click on Similar records tab to find the patents similar to that particular record.

Note: The working of Similar patent search in the Number search form and from the Detail view will be same as that of the new similarity search of the AI search form
