Create and Apply Thesaurus
You can create and maintain multiple set of taxonomies for Assignee/ Inventor/ Attorney and Keywords. A thesaurus file helps you treat multiword terms as single phrase and define synonymous words which should be treated as equivalents during searching.
Thesaurus files can also help you with cleanup activities. This is also beneficial in automation and allowing you to use the same for future use in a different report thereby saving time. These thesauruses are easy to manage and extend over time.
Each name (parent / group name) needs to be entered on a single line, with synonyms separated by comma. PatSeer treats the first term or phrase as group head and displays the same in result filters and respective charts. For e.g., the thesaurus for assignee can comprise entries like Stratasys, Stratasys*, Makerbot Ind*, Objet* (here, Makerbot Industries, Objet Ltd are acquired by Stratasys and for analysis purpose may be combined with Stratasys)
The Thesaurus tab appears below the Alerts tab.

It will apply the thesaurus to the respective groups and the parent name would be assigned to all child nodes and represented in bold.
Note: PatSeer internally searches within ASN, ASNN fields for assignee based thesaurus, CASN for current assignee based thesaurus, INV for inventor based thesaurus and ATN field for attorney based thesaurus and the results are assigned corresponding values and displayed.
You can even prepare Keyword based thesaurus. In case you have created thesaurus for keywords, the thesaurus will look like as shown below

When you select a particular keyword, PatSeer internally searches for the parent name and the entire child names in the English full-text (TACD) field and the results are assigned corresponding values and displayed.
You can analyze assignees, current assignee/ inventors/ attorneys based on thesaurus within Quick Stats. You need to click on ‘Apply Thesaurus’ present within Assignee/ Inventor/ Attorney to view the respective charts. You can even drill down the respective chart to view the list of records.
