What is the difference between selecting the country from the country selection dropdown option and if I enter the field code PBC (Publication Country) and then enter the country code/ How do I look for patent documents that have been published in a specific country?
The logic behind both these options is different. If you have deduplicated your records based on SFAM and you select a country preference from the country drop-down option, then the search will run on all the family members in combination with the keyword you have entered.
Please refer to the snapshot below to understand the logic in a better way.
We have run the query of a certain Classification Code and have selected IN from the country dropdown option.
1. First, the deduplication option selected is SFAM and Country preference IN from the dropdown option.

- Here the first record, IN389689A1, does not have this class under it.

- Here, let's open one of its family members, the EP record. Now, here you can clearly see that this EP record has that classification code included. That is the reason why that IN record was displayed.

- This is the way how the country drop-down option works in PatSeer.
2. The second option is of entering PBC: IN in the command line search.

- If you check, you will receive a dataset with all the records that are published in India in combination with that classification code.
